A new study published in the Brazilian Journal of Plastic Surgery found that both men and women overwhelmingly preferred symmetrical, proportional breasts over larger ones, a finding researchers say should guide cosmetic surgeons away from the "bigger is better" assumption. Researchers at the University of Passo Fundo in Brazil showed 239 university students a series of images depicting different breast shapes, defined by the ratio of tissue distributed between the upper and lower halves. Three ratios were tested: 40/60, 50/50, and 60/40, with the first number representing the upper pole and the second the lower. The students then selected which shape they found most attractive and rated preferences for nipple and areola placement and…Open

Randy Fry, a seasoned abalone diver, was decapitated by an estimated 18-foot great white shark near Fort Bragg, California, an attack his diving partner said lasted just five seconds. Fry and his close friend Cliff Zimmerman had spent the morning trolling for fish before slipping into roughly 15 feet of water to hunt abalone along a stretch of rugged Northern California coastline. The spot sat beneath steep cliffs and was reachable only by boat. A third member of their group, Red Bartley, stayed topside as a lookout. All three men belonged to the Recreational Fishing Alliance. Zimmerman saw a fin surface between himself and Fry. Then the water erupted. The U.S. Sun reported that the shark struck Fry with what witnesses and experts…Open

The longtime "Wheel of Fortune" announcer's attorney fired back at TMZ's reporting on an in-flight incident, saying law enforcement cleared Jim Thornton in minutes, but Sony suspended him anyway. Thornton's lawyer sent a letter to TMZ denouncing its September 1 report as "defamatory" and denying that the veteran announcer engaged in any criminal conduct aboard an American Airlines flight last May. USA TODAY obtained the letter on September 2, one day after Sony Pictures Television confirmed it had suspended Thornton and begun recasting his role while conducting what it called a "thorough investigation." The sequence raises a pointed question: if law enforcement found nothing wrong in under five minutes, what exactly is Sony investigating,…Open
