Former President Barack Obama weighed in on artificial intelligence dangers just one day after President Trump declared the only "guardrail" the technology needs is a strong president, drawing a sharp line between two very different visions of who should control the most powerful technology in a generation. Obama's public statement came after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay warning that AI has been "advancing dramatically faster" since the summer and proposing a three-step plan to bring independent evaluators into AI companies and push governments to set safety standards.
