Flight data suggests an Amazon cargo plane tried to abort an unsteady landing at Miami International Airport before smashing into a van and killing five people inside, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). NTSB investigators plan to interview the pilot and co-pilot on Wednesday to determine why the jet overran the runway while landing Sunday. The National Transportation Safety Board provided new details Tuesday on the deadly plane crash at Miami International Airport over the weekend. Five people were killed after an Amazon cargo jet overran a runway and struck vehicles near the airport. Federal investigators are examining the plane’s landing, speed, braking, weather and mechanical condition to determine what caused the crash. On Tuesday, NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy revealed the 55-year-old captain had 7,145 flight hours and received his Boeing 767 type rating in May. Officials also recovered the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder.
