The blaze broke out aboard the Ocean Melody at roughly 11 a.m. local time at the Beihai Shipbuilding Co. facility in the port city of Qingdao, a major shipping hub on China's northeastern coast in Shandong province. Firefighters battled the flames for about three and a half hours before extinguishing them at 2:30 p.m., CBS News reported . Forty-two people were on the vessel when the fire started.
