The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced Thursday it will ban transgender women athletes from women’s events ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The policy states that eligibility to perform in women’s sports will first be based on SRY gene screening “to detect the absence or presence of the SRY gene,” the committee said in a statement.
