Crowds gathered across the world to watch a partial lunar eclipse on Thursday night into Friday morning. CNN spoke to viewers in Los Angeles about what the unique event means to them.

People in the Americas, Africa and Europe will have a chance to see Earth’s shadow create a near-total blood moon.
If you didn't wake up before dawn to see it, the next total lunar eclipse will be New Year's Eve 2028.
