A high-stakes hearing Friday will bring the immigration crackdown in Minnesota to a head in the courts, as the nation’s top Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official will be forced to take the stand to explain the agency’s aggressive surge. “The Court’s patience is at an end,” Patrick Schiltz, the chief judge of Minnesota’s federal district court, wrote Monday. Schiltz’s contempt threat against acting ICE Director Todd Lyons comes as the court has been overwhelmed with lawsuits challenging the agency’s tactics and the Trump administration’s efforts to shield it from scrutiny.
