More than 80 years after U.S. troops liberated a sprawling prisoner-of-war camp in western Germany, prosecutors have opened an investigation into a 105-year-old former guard suspected of complicity in the murders of Allied POWs held there. Dortmund prosecutors launched the probe after Germany's Central Office for the Investigation of National Socialist Crimes, based in Ludwigsburg, referred the case in February. The suspect, a former Wehrmacht soldier whose name has not been released, served as a guard at Stalag 326 VI K Senne, a camp roughly 13 miles southeast of Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia.
