Destructive tornadoes and powerful storms tore across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Thursday, with two waterspouts even coming ashore in the New York City area.ย In Dover, Delaware, a tornado ripped through the state capital just after 6 p.m., leaving widespread damage and prompting officials to declare a state of emergency.

A confirmed tornado was reported in Dover, Delaware on Thursday. Dover Police reported "significant damage" across parts of the city, including numerous downed trees, flooding and other storm-related damage. A State of Emergency was declared as emergency crews responded to impacted areas. According to the Delaware Emergency Management Agency, other locations impacted include "Camden, Dover Base Housing, Rising Sun-lebanon, Dover Speedway, Rising Sun, Wyoming, Little Creek, Highland Acres, Rodney Village & Kent Acres."
