Larry Montes, 46, was arrested Friday following what police called a "random antisemitic attack" at Central Synagogue in Manhattan.
The DOJ said Larry Montes has been charged with two counts of committing hate crimes in connection with his race- and religious-based assaults of a congregant and a security guard during last week's Shabbat service.

The New Civil Liberties Alliance filed the lawsuit Thursday on behalf of the Silver Spring Jewish Center and Rabbi J. Menashe Shapiro. The lawsuit asks the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland to block the law while the case moves forward.
