25 years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people, Morning Joe looks back on the day. Mika, then a CBS correspondent, was sent downtown to report on the Twin Towers. Following the attacks, Joe notes a distinct sense of national pride: “If the terrorists meant to tear us apart, they actually brought us more closely together.”
2,977 lights, one for each life lost during 9/11, were assembled to depict the Twin Towers over New York Harbor in a commemorative display ahead of the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks. Organizers say the "aerial artwork" was made in collaboration with artists, 9/11 families, survivors and first responders.
