The U.S. Sun reports former DeRidder Mayor Misty Roberts is free after 90 days in custody, despite prosecutors initially seeking 17 years. Roberts, 44, walked free Monday after serving the full custodial term, the newspaper reported. She had been found guilty in March of statutory rape and indecent behavior with a minor. The case involved a 16-year-old friend of Roberts’s son. Prosecutors sought 17 years behind bars, but the judge imposed 90 days in custody and two suspended five-year sentences. The sentence also requires therapy, regular drug and alcohol testing, and registration as a Tier 1 sex offender. Roberts must avoid the teenager and his family.
