A High Court judge has ordered Prince Harry and six fellow claimants to begin paying millions in legal costs to the Daily Mail's publisher after ruling their failed hacking case was conducted in a manner "unreasonable to a high degree", a rare rebuke that could leave the group facing a bill approaching £50 million. Mr Justice Nicklin handed down the costs ruling on August 17, 2026, granting Associated Newspapers an indemnity costs order, a measure reserved for cases pursued improperly, and directing the claimants to make a first payment of £9,544,355 within seven days.
