Erik Slavin, who was fired as editor in chief of the Pentagon-funded newspaper Stars and Stripes Friday says he is concerned about the paper’s ability to provide independent news following sweeping changes at the publication Slavin was terminated Friday along with the newspaper’s publisher and a reporter amid Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s growing crackdown on journalists’ access to the military.
