As cartels increasingly use drones along the southern border, the U.S. military is deploying high-energy laser weapons to shoot them down. The system, built by AeroVironment, is mounted on Joint Light Tactical Vehicles, allowing it to be repositioned as drones are detected. U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents use signal-based counter-drone technology, known as jammers, to disable drones, while the military operates the laser system separately.
