Delta Flight 2204 had barely left the ground Saturday morning when the crew reported fumes in the flight deck, declared an emergency, and turned back toward Atlanta. The aircraft lifted off shortly before 7:30 a.m. and was back on the ground by about 8 a.m., landing not on a runway but on a taxiway at the nation's busiest airport.
