Two of Jerry Buss's sons have purchased a minority stake in the San Diego Padres through their own investment firm, even as their sister Jeanie Buss fights to block the family's remaining share in the Los Angeles Lakers from being sold. Joey and Jesse Buss, the youngest siblings in the Buss family dynasty, reached a deal to acquire roughly 5% of the Padres through Buss Sports Capital, the venture they launched in September 2025. The brothers will also sit on the new Padres ownership group's advisory board, joining controlling owners Kwanza Jones and Jose E.
