A stage musical built on Prince's iconic Purple Rain album and film will open on Broadway next spring, bringing more than 20 of the late artist's songs to the Majestic Theatre after a 2025 run in his hometown of Minneapolis. Producers announced the Broadway transfer on July 27, the 42nd anniversary of the original 1984 film, with previews set to begin March 12 and opening night scheduled for April 12.
