The trial was one of several that social media companies face this year and beyond.
At the center of the case is a 20-year-old plaintiff identified as “Kaley G.M.,” whose emotional testimony moved at least one juror to tears.
The plaintiff, a 20-year-old identified only as K.G.M., took the stand to testify against Meta and Instagram in a bellwether case over tech addiction.
Jury selection starts this week in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
