ABA has begun the process of rescinding its DEI requirements for law schools after President Donald Trump signed an executive order making such mandates illegal.
Wednesday’s hearing followed discussions of changes within the ABA in the more than a year since the Education Department issued new guidance on DEI policies and President Trump issued an EO prohibiting them in accrediting bodies.

Some states have parted ways with the ABA, but federal recognition of the group's accreditation power gives it a monopoly on the entire U.S. legal profession.
