A self-described recovering sex addict opened a men's-only Christian gym in Oklahoma City built around spiritual accountability and physical fitness, and the online ridicule it drew says more about the critics than the concept. Jeff Hambrecht founded Proverbs 27:17 last November as a gym and ministry center where men struggling with lust, sexual addiction, and broken relationships could train without the triggers that fed their worst habits. He also works as a corporate health and wellness director. The gym's name comes from the Old Testament verse about iron sharpening iron, men holding each other accountable.
