The command said Monday that the lethal attack was against a low-profile vessel operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific, and that intelligence confirmed that the boat was engaged in narco-trafficking.
"Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations," it says.
The strike was conducted under the U.S. military's Joint Task Force Southern Spear, which is part of the Trump administration's efforts to curb illicit drug smuggling operations into the U.S. mainland.
