Federal investigators are tracing a trail of text messages between Hayden Panettiere and a suspected long-time drug dealer as they work to determine who supplied the fentanyl-laced pill that apparently took the actress's life. Panettiere, who rose to fame as a child star before landing roles on the television series Nashville and in the Scream franchise, is believed to have died in the early hours of August 16 after taking a single oxycodone tablet laced with fentanyl at a high-end Airbnb rental in Greenville, South Carolina. San Francisco police have arrested four suspects in connection with the death of a 16-year-old boy who overdosed on a deadly new drug. Investigators say the teen took a counterfeit pill containing cychlorphine, a powerful synthetic opioid that has recently surfaced in the city. Law enforcement officials say cychlorphine is roughly 10 times more potent than fentanyl and was first identified in the U.S. in 2024.
