The movement has been swift and steep. An Emerson College poll released in late May showed Rubio at 35% support among likely Republican primary voters, just one point behind Vance at 36%. That gap was far wider only months earlier: in August 2025, Vance commanded 52% to Rubio's 9%. By February 2026, Rubio had climbed to 20% while Vance held at 52%.
