Desmond Carter, 21, is set to stand trial on August 17 in Louisiana's 19th Judicial District Court. He is the first of three men accused of raping Brooks, who was 19 years old when she was allegedly attacked after a night out in 2023. Brooks was later struck and killed by a car.
