In its next term, the Supreme Court will hear a major consolidated case on assault weapon bans and whether the Second Amendment protects the right to possess AR-15s and semiautomatic rifles. Semi-automatic rifles are “the weapon of choice” for somebody looking to harm large groups of people, says Mark Barden, whose son, Daniel, was killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting.
