Education Secretary Linda McMahon will testify before a Senate Appropriations Committee panel Tuesday morning on President Trump’s fiscal 2027 budget request for the mostly shuttered Education Department. The department has been on the chopping block since Trump returned to the Oval Office last year. The administration has shifted many of its programs to other federal agencies including the Small Business Administration as well as the Health and Human Services and State departments in an effort to “to break up the federal education bureaucracy and return education to the states.” The latest budget requests $76.5 billion for fiscal 2027, a $2.3 billion decrease from the 2026 enacted level. #education #trump #senate
