The United States reimposed oil sanctions on Iran following reports of unprovoked attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz late Monday night and early Tuesday morning. A letter from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the license that temporarily lifted oil sanctions on Iran issued June 21 has been “revoked,” with the effective date listed as July 7, 2026.
