After nine years away from fiction, young-adult literary giant John Green has released "Hollywood, Ending," his first novel written for adults, a book he says draws directly on the personal cost of two decades in the public eye. Green, one of the most commercially successful authors of the 2010s young-adult boom, sat for a remote interview with USA TODAY ahead of the book's release. He described the novel as "a love letter to movies", but also as a reckoning with the celebrity apparatus that turned his earlier works, "The Fault in Our Stars" and "Paper Towns," into Hollywood productions and turned him into a public figure whose private struggles became content.
