At least 18 NPR journalists have accepted buyouts and another 10 have been laid off as the public media network attempts to save money and reorganize the newsroom.
The move comes in the wake of large-scale layoffs at the Washington Post, which began in February.
The layoffs affected several dozen employees at the news division, which is owned by the technology heir David Ellison.
The billionaire newspaper owner, dissatisfied by years of losses, wants the newsroom to double productivity with half its budget.
