A house cat named Ginge vanished from his owner's home in Sunderland, England, and was found almost a year later living among a feral colony 86 miles away in Leeds, rescued only because a volunteer noticed he was too friendly to be a stray. Lucy Roche, a volunteer branch leader for the charity Cat Action Trust 1977, was making her regular rounds feeding feral cats in Garforth, a town outside Leeds, when one animal in the colony caught her attention. The cat rubbed against her, purred, and let her pet him, behavior that set him apart from the wary ferals she usually encounters. Roche brought the cat to a local veterinarian, where a microchip scan revealed his name was Ginge and his owner, a woman named Beth, lived more than 86 miles north…Open
