The C.D.C.’s tobacco control office has been shut for more than a year. After its most prominent antismoking campaign went off the air, calls to 1-800-QUIT-NOW lines have plummeted.
Richard Danker said the vape authorization "undermines" the department's recent guidance document related to youth risks of flavored nicotine, according to the letter.
The move comes one day after former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary resigned his post after a year on the job for the same reason, following approval of blueberry and mango flavored vape pods.
