Former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield addressed the current spread of Ebola in an interview with NewsNation's Morning in America anchor Markie Martin Friday, May 22. Redfield said that he believes the strain, currently reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, will cause "a major, major Ebola outbreak for Africa." However, in response to Martin's question about the possibility for spread outside of Africa โ and in particular, to the United States โ Redfield offered a key difference between Ebola and other diseases that can cause epidemics.
