Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pushed back Thursday on the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) decision to disqualify a Ukrainian skeleton racer from competition in the Winter Olympic Games, who insisted on wearing a helmet honoring athletes and coaches killed in the nation‘s nearly four-year-long war with Russia. “Sport shouldn’t mean amnesia, and the Olympic movement should help stop wars, not play into the hands of aggressors,” Zelensky wrote in a post on social platform X. “Unfortunately, the decision of the International Olympic Committee to disqualify Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych says otherwise.” Read More:…
