The president faced pressure from his base to endorse the state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton. But advisers had urged him to support Sen. John Cornyn, arguing that Paxton has too much baggage.
The president had long considered backing Senator John Cornyn, but Ken Paxton, the state attorney general, carried the support of the MAGA base.
"Ken is a true MAGA Warrior who has ALWAYS delivered for Texas, and will continue to do so in the United States Senate," Trump wrote.
