My reflections on the attacks of 9/11 begin with conveying the shock and trauma of that horrible day. One cannot understand with the distance of today how the attack on 9/11 immediately represented a profound strike to the very fiber of American society, a very shock to the idea of normalcy, and a pervasive administering of a sense of imminent threat.
