YOUTUBE (NewsNation) - Inflation rose by less than expected in August, according to PCE data
Economists expect the Federal Reserve to hike the base rate of inflation again before the end of the year. However, the PCE data released Wednesday dropped the odds of consumers seeing a rate hike from 70% to just under 40%. The PCE showed rates increased by 0.3% as opposed to the forecasted 0.4%. The rate has increased by 3.4% compared to last year versus the forecasted 3.7%. The Fed prefers a rate hike of 2%; however, the numbers show that inflation is starting to come back down, leaving room for a potential pause on rate hikes later this year.
