The Drew Barrymore Show opened season seven with its strongest premiere ever, and Adam’s Law launched as the top new syndicated strip, even as daytime television keeps getting smaller. On September 14, Deadline reported , The Drew Barrymore Show posted its highest premiere numbers ever in total viewers, up 21% from last season’s opener and averaging 1.8 million total viewers. The talk show now ranks No. 3 among syndicated talk programs in households, total viewers, and the key women and adults 18-49 and 25-54 groups. Both that show and the new court series Adam’s Law come from CBS Media Ventures. Adam’s Law, produced by Judge Judy Sheindlin and featuring Judge Adam Levy, debuted as the top new syndicated strip in premiere week. Specific viewer totals for the court show were not detailed in the same report. CBS titles held the line while rivals walked away Other CBS Media Ventures shows also finished premiere week in strong positions. Entertainment Tonight remained the No. 1 entertainment news magazine. Inside Edition held as the No. 1 daily news magazine. Hot Bench ranked as the No. 1 court show still in production. The Perfect Line, hosted by Deborah Norville, ranked No. 4 among syndicated game shows, behind Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, and Family Feud. That performance landed against a thinner field. First-run syndication has been shedding titles for months. In February, Sherri Shepherd’s daytime talker Sherri was canceled after four seasons. In March, NBCUniversal said it was leaving the first-run syndication business entirely. Access Hollywood, Access Live, The Steve Wilkos Show, and Karamo were all set to end under that exit. By the end of August, Kelly Clarkson had wrapped The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons. That left The Drew Barrymore Show and The Jennifer Hudson Show as the last daytime talkers still produced under the traditional syndication model. Fewer shows, clearer scoreboard Drew Barrymore’s series is now in its seventh season with a premiere that beat every prior season launch on the books. Adam’s Law arrived as the highest-ranked new strip in a market that has already waved off multiple long-running daytime brands. The pattern is straightforward. Networks and studios have pulled back from first-run syndication. The titles that remain are competing in a smaller lane, and CBS Media Ventures put several of them at the top of their categories in premiere week. Viewers still showed up for a familiar daytime format when the alternative was another canceled hour and another empty slot. In a business that keeps exiting the field, the shows that deliver numbers still get to keep the floor.
