Big Bend National Park in Texas will not receive the 30-foot steel border wall once planned for it. Instead, the remote national park along the Texas-Mexico border will get new border patrol roads, vehicle barriers and “detection technology” as the federal government moves ahead with a much bigger border buildout across West Texas. Public land advocates say the construction will damage the national parks and hurt wildlife, while former Border Patrol officer Thaddeus Cleveland also called the wall "unnecessary."
