San Francisco police have arrested four suspects in connection with the death of a 16-year-old boy who overdosed on a deadly new drug. Investigators say the teen took a counterfeit pill containing cychlorphine, a powerful synthetic opioid that has recently surfaced in the city. Law enforcement officials say cychlorphine is roughly 10 times more potent than fentanyl and was first identified in the U.S. in 2024. DEA Special Agent in Charge Bob Beris said the agency first encountered the drug that year at a DEA laboratory in Florida. FOX 2 San Francisco’s Christien Kafton reports.
