Harvard Medical School agreed to a $53 million settlement with families of body donors whose remains were stolen and sold on the black market by the school's own morgue manager, a scheme that included selling human skin to be tanned into leather. Cedric Lodge, the former morgue manager at Harvard Medical School, ran what federal prosecutors described as a years-long operation: removing brains, skin, hands, and faces from cadavers donated for medical research and shipping them to buyers in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.
