An emu younger than one year old broke free from a mobile zoo in Japan and led officers on a two-hour chase through a residential neighborhood before being captured unharmed. Moriyama City police answered calls Wednesday morning about a large bird loose in a residential area of Shiga Prefecture, and what they found was not the “ostrich” some residents first reported. It was an emu from Horii Zoo, a mobile zoo operation, and the bird kept officers busy for two full hours before they finally cornered it at an apartment complex. No injuries were reported.
