An engine failed on a US Coast Guard plane with the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security onboard, forcing it to make an emergency landing Wednesday afternoon.
The Coast Guard plane made an emergency landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, multiple sources told ABC News.
The pilot told air traffic controllers in the Washington area that the airplane had 14 people on board. Mullin said the single-engine landing went smoothly.
"The United States Coast Guard pilots made the single engine landing feel routine," Mullin posted on X. "No panic, just straight professionalism. After we landed, the pilots told me that was a first for them! We could not have been in better hands."
