North Carolina Rep. Pat Harrigan joined “National Report” to break down how state non-enforcement and rogue trucking schools are allowing unqualified drivers, who lack required English proficiency and valid legal status, behind the wheel of 80,000-pound tractor-trailers, putting American lives at risk across the country.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort to remove undocumented immigrants from the country, the Department of Homeland Security said.
The announcement at a news conference in Detroit also warned over 100 more schools could be closed.
"Today, what we are announcing is an emergency executive shutdown of 110 driving schools," Duffy said.
Trump's reforms will allow veterans with vehicle operating experience to skip what he called "redundant road tests" and will offer training to those veterans who lack the vehicle experience.
The president has pushed to curtail the commercial licenses of immigrants, including legal residents, whom he has blamed for crashes.
