John Paris, the 58-year-old drummer for Earth, Wind & Fire, has been under sedation in a medically induced coma since a medical emergency struck just before an August concert, and his family says the road ahead remains uncertain. Paris was rushed to a hospital on Aug. 6, moments before the band was set to take the stage at Chase Center in San Francisco. He suffered hypertension and difficulty breathing, and after a brief period in which he regained consciousness, his blood pressure spiked again, prompting doctors to sedate him to stabilize his body.
