A mid-air collision between two glider planes in a remote stretch of upstate New York left one pilot dead Friday afternoon, while the other landed safely, and federal investigators are now working to determine what went wrong. New York State Police said they received a call at approximately 2:26 p.m. reporting that two gliders had collided in the air near Edinburg, a small town in Saratoga County roughly 50 miles northwest of Albany. One of the pilots managed to bring the aircraft down at the nearby Plateau Sky Ranch Airport and walked away uninjured. The second pilot was not as fortunate.
