A ground stop has been issued at Miami International Airport after an Amazon cargo plane crashed near the airport. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said more than 60 units responded after the plane overran a runway and struck multiple vehicles. "We’ve issued a full ground stop at Miami International while first responders assess the scene after an Amazon cargo plane overran the runway." said Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.
American Airlines flights not in the air were being held for a nationwide ground stop Tuesday evening because of an IT outage, according to an FAA advisory.
The runways at Ronald Reagan National Airport will be closed after noon on July 4, and for several hours on July 3. Other celebrations surrounding the nation’s 250th birthday are also expected to cause disruptions.
The Federal Aviation Administration ordered the closure early Monday, and the Fire Department said the reported runway incident involved a plane and a vehicle. No other details were immediately available.
LaGuardia Airport in New York is closed following a collision between a Port Authority airport vehicle and an Air Canada regional plane, according to police.
The ground stop was lifted Friday evening but caused delays at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport and the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
