Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) wrote in a July 9 letter to Executive Director Matt Floca that he had obtained whistleblower information alleging the Kennedy Center rushed a series of renovations last year in order to meet arbitrary deadlines set by President Trump.
The board also approved making Matt Floca the center's chief operating officer and executive director, replacing former interim director Ric Grenell, who Trump appointed to the role last year.

The event comes after Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Friday that Matt Floca, the Kennedy Center's vice president of operations, would succeed Ric Grenell as CEO and executive director, pending approval from the Board of Directors.
