Over 100 people are still missing at sea after a ferry capsized as rescuers battle rough waves to find them. CNN’s Mike Valerio reports.
At least six people were killed and more than 100 rescued after the vessel sank in the Java Sea on Sunday, the authorities said.
The 119-meter ferry, built in Japan in 1987, was also transporting 89 vehicles at the time it capsized.
Officials said the ferry was carrying 243 people between Java and Borneo.

A 34-year-old police officer on South Korea's most famous resort island allegedly closed missing persons cases with fabricated records, and at least two of those missing people turned up dead weeks later. South Korean authorities have charged the officer, identified only by the surname Bu, with forging public electronic records, obstruction of official duties, and dereliction of duty after an investigation revealed he closed cases without evidence, deleted files, and lied to families about the fate of their missing relatives. Bu, assigned to the Jeju West Police Station's missing persons investigation team, handled 298 cases between March 2025 and July 2026. He closed 25 of them.
