A 34-year-old police officer on South Korea's most famous resort island allegedly closed missing persons cases with fabricated records, and at least two of those missing people turned up dead weeks later. South Korean authorities have charged the officer, identified only by the surname Bu, with forging public electronic records, obstruction of official duties, and dereliction of duty after an investigation revealed he closed cases without evidence, deleted files, and lied to families about the fate of their missing relatives.
